Summer Open Days 2016
This summer we’ll be opening our doors to the public from July – September! Come and visit our splendid building, meet some of our volunteers and learn about the historic stained glass. Click here for full details of the days we will be open.
Lectures by experts within the field of stained glass are hosted in the spring and autumn. Past lecturers have included Nicola Gordon Bowe, Helen Whittaker, Neil Moat and Sarah Brown, on subjects as diverse as the medieval stained glass of York Minster, contemporary creation and the twentieth-century glass artist Harry Clarke. Our most recent lecture was in May, delivered by Professor of Medieval History Sarah Rees Jones, on the development of St. Martin-cum-Gregory and its surrounding area in the medieval period.
Our next lecture will be in October and will be delivered by Helen Walsh, the Curator of Decorative Arts at the York Museums Trust. Click here for more details.
Stained Glass Workshops
A series of introductory practical workshops in painting and leading glass are held each summer. The workshops are led by experienced stained glass artist Ann Sotheran, a Fellow of the British Society of Master Glass Painters. Click here to see dates and how to book!
During the summer, experts within the field of stained glass lead walking tours of various parish churches in York. For details click here.
